Playing with your family pet is not only a great way for your child to have fun and interact but can be used to build their language.
Here are some areas of language you can talk about with your child:
Actions: What are they doing? (standing, sleeping, walking, barking, eating)
Location: Are they under the table? On the rug? In their bed?
Size: Are they big, small, tiny, ginormous?
Feel: Do they feel rough or soft?
Features: Do they have fur, scales or feathers? What colour?
Body parts: Do they have a four legs or wings? A tail?
Sound: What noise do they make? Can you think of some other animal noises?
