The Eat Speak Learn Forest
Where therapy milestones become living legacies
At Eat Speak Learn, therapy isn’t measured in hours — it’s measured in outcomes that change everyday life. We call them meaningful outcomes: the wins you’d ring the grandparents about. It might be a child starting a conversation with a friend, sharing dinner at the table, or building a home practice habit that sticks. When those moments happen, we honour them in a way that lasts.
That’s the heart of the Eat Speak Learn Forest — a living celebration of growth, belonging, and hope.
Rooted in Canberra. Growing together.
Eat Speak Learn has grown into a team effort, but the vision for the Forest began with our founders, Chris and Lauren. Since 2013 — the year their first son was born, the year Eat Speak Learn began in a spare room, and the year the NDIS launched — they’ve marked milestones by taking a photo with the same oak tree each year. Watching their children grow beside that tree inspired a simple idea: therapy should be celebrated, together, in nature.

Our Therapy Journey
How the Forest works
Why oaks? Why here?
We chose Mesa Oaks (Quercus polymorpha) for a reason. They’re steady, resilient, semi-evergreen trees with long lives — centuries, not decades. They weather heat and dry spells, then flush with new growth when conditions are right. That’s therapy: patience, persistence, and the right supports at the right time.
And the setting matters. Forest 21 – Mesa Oaks sits beside the Pod Playground, with accessible paths and nearby bathrooms — easy for prams, wheelchairs, and big family picnics after a visit to your child’s tree.
We do therapy differently
Eat Speak Learn is setting a new benchmark in Australia for therapy that is human, hopeful, and accountable. We:
- Set meaningful outcomes with families (not just clinical goals).
- Measure and make progress visible — then celebrate it.
- Coordinate care so therapy feels joined-up, not juggled.
- Give back through initiatives like the Forest and our Giving Program.
This is how we show we care: through an outcomes-based approach that creates progress families can see and a legacy the community can share.
What is a meaningful outcome? It’s an achievement that resonates with families — the thing you’d share with grandparents, the change that unlocks daily life. Examples:
- “I started a conversation with a friend at school.”
- “We had dinner together without stress.”
- “We built a 3×10-minute home practice habit this term.”
The Giving Program

The Eat Speak Learn Forest is about celebrating growth — but we also know that some children face barriers that make accessing therapy harder. That’s why we created the Giving Program, extending the Forest’s spirit of generosity into the community.
For every meaningful outcome achieved, Eat Speak Learn donates $10 into a dedicated scholarship fund. These scholarships support children who fall between the funding gaps — such as refugees or families experiencing socioeconomic hardship — so no child is left without the chance to grow.
Each year, applications open for the following year, giving families the opportunity to access therapy support when it’s most needed. It’s our gift back to the community — a tradition of care and inclusion that grows alongside the Forest.
Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to be the first to know when scholarship applications open.
